This domaine is one of the oldest vignobles of Chablis, in the family since the 1830s. J et R Selections is the exclusive importer of this estate for the US. "If you've tasted French Chablis before and found it not only dry but austere, then you're in for a big surprise with Seguinot-Bordet wines. They are round, balanced and absolutely delicious," Ray and Eleanor Heald, The Observer & Eccentric. These are traditional Chablis cuvees, 100% chardonnay with no oak. Chablis 2000Well balanced with a complex aroma with hints of acacia. Round and rich in the mouth, with a fresh cool follow through typical of the best Chablis. From 20 to 25 year old vines with low yields. A Guide Hachette two stars [** rating]: "The wine is superb. A bottle of grand classe." Chablis vieilles vignes 1999The Chablis vieilles vignes differs from the regular Chablis in that the vinification is longer and the juice has longer contact with the lees, which makes it richer and fatter than the regular Chablis: Intense, plush, with a rich bouquet of honey and toast, marked by the terroir and the age of the vines, full-bodied, fat and suave. Silver medal at Tasters Guild International Wine Tasting 2002. A Guide Hachette two stars [** rating]: "In the top group of our tasting. The vigneron knows well how to balance the natural acidity with the maturity of the grape. Worthy to accompany the escargot of Burgundy." Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume 2000Richness that immediately commands attention. Fat, full body, an almost creamy texture that carries over in flavors of beurre. Lots of pure Chardonnay fruit with enough mineral components and acidity to hold true to Chablis. A Guide Hachette one star [* rating]: "Gold tint, fat and pleasing. Very long in fruit, balancing vivacity and mellowness." From 35+ yr old vines; finest premier cru exposure just north of grand cru. |
