The Languedoc Region

Within the immense Lanquedoc-Roussillon wine region, by far the largest wine region in France, there are several appellations starting to produce excellent wine. Minervois AOC is in the northwest corner of this region, mostly along the Aude from Narbonne to Carcassone rising to the north to le Causse and le Montagne Noire lining the south boundary of the Massif Centrale. The terroir is quite similar to that of the Southern Rhone without the mistral, and almost all of the appellation vines have a southern exposure on the slopes of the mountains lining the Massif.
