Côtes du Rhône Villages cuvée Granges Rouges 1999Two hectares on the Plateau de Uchaux. Black fruit and cracked black peppercorns. Plump and polished, with spiced cherry, olive, and thyme. In Hour Detroit, Master Sommelier Madeline Triffon says "This was the deceptive crowd-pleaser of the bunch [of wines in the tasting]-a raspberry popsicle up front, all fruit and spice. How lush and mouth-filling the flavor is. Then complexity kicks in, with pepper and cool mintiness. The texture is smooth, equally lush, and round with alcohol and ripe fruit, and some nippy tannin." 750 cases made. |
